Red face Air conditioning prtoblem

have a 94 toyota p/u, air works great, problem is when air is on and the break is applied the engine revs constantly up and down very fast and consistant. this cant be normal. what gives HELP!!!!!!!!!!! :pat:

would help to post what engine, etc,

I rememebr reading that something about your idle being too high. WHen you hit the brake, it grabs vacuum, and the vacuum advance tries to raise the idle, bu tit is already too high, so it shuts it down, then brings it up, puts it down. I bet I am half right about this.

I had that problem too. Adjust this greenish colored piece here:


It screws into the intake manifold between the E and the F. Twist the plastic screw on top clockwise with your fingers to lower the AC idle, but BE CAREFUL. I broke this screw before and it cost like $30 to replace.

If your having the same problem while applying the brakes, your idle speed is too high. To adjust that, turn the gold screw on the throttle body with a flathead screwdriver.

i found the right forum no post or responce in 30 days .........................i aint got that kind of time .............. im having a similar problem with my 95 4runner, only mine wont idle up 99% of the time(when i turn on the air).sometimes it holds steady rpm,but most of the time it drops.is that the "idle up valve" you are suppost to adjust?
