AHHHH NO! Its seized
So after 2 months of driving my 5 mile a day routine on a knocking 3.0 it finally seized. I was driving down the road to pick something up for work doing about 50mph when all of the sudden I noticed I could hear the knock over my blasting music. I turned the music off and there it was knocking 5 times louder than before and through all the RPMS now.
Earlier that day I had stalled the truck out a few times thinking I was driving stupid only to later realise that it couldnt run at the low gas/ very little clutch startup I usually do because of the friction in the bearing... I had my fingers crossed to make it home and about 20mins away I felt the bearing bite on something and stall the truck. I put it in 4th doing about 45 and popped the clutch in a last ditch effort. It started back up and then all of the sudden I could feel the engine locking up and me slowing down. I pulled it into neutral coasted to the side and all I could think was that the time bomb just blew...
The truck got towed by AAA for free and is going into the shop to have a fresh remanned jasper put in. I'm getting the quote on monday and if its reasonable (last car my dad had quoted was $2500 installed) so I have my finger crossed. If its over $3500 I'm gonna get a beater and wait til I can build a 3.0 with cams and valves. If I get the Jasper I'm gonna drive it and build heads/valves to put on it.
What an expensive day...
PS: What do you guys think did it in? I first thought I threw the rod but expected there to be some block on the ground and a puddle of oil. Then I thought that the bearing split in 2 and over lapped on the journal like my buddies 22re did. Later that night my dad told me that a spun bearing is actually only spun once and once it starts spinning with the motor is what makes it go. What do you think?

I don't have an explanation as to what happened but, how many miles were on it and how many miles did you drive it after you first noticed the knock? I'm just curious because my 95 3.0 has about 163k miles and I replaced the headgaskets 7k miles ago and I didn't touch the bottom end. Good luck with the Jasper, although I hear Orient Engine is much cheaper.
