I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the stereo anti-theft circuitry is in the factory radio itself.
I'd expect any outfit that installs aftermarket stereos would be able to tell you for certain

I can’t see the question, but yes, the anti-theft was within the radio. I used to have a reference chart that gave the radio number along with the 6-digit code to unlock a radio and erase the owner’s code if they forgot. I’m sure some service managers still have if they’ve been there long enough.
The text "color" needs to be "automatic," not anything else (especially not black).
This happens here commonly when someone cuts-and-pastes the text from somewhere else. If the poster has only this single posting (not the case with 3.slow_lucas), he's posting to as many forums as he can find.
3.slow_lucas can fix this by editing the post, highlighting all the text, then changing the color back to automatic.
Until then, Jimkola can see the text by just guessing where it is, and highlighting it.

The anti-theft is is the radio unit. If the unit is locked up the dealer can input a 6-digit code(specific to each radio model) that will erase the code. That's a pretty old procedure, it's possible the dealer doesn't have the data sheet anymore, but the service manager can contact Toyota tech line or the audio manufacturer. That's to get the existing radio working. There's also people on the internet that will sell you the unlock code.
If you're replacing the radio than you don't need to do anything. Now whether the unit you're buying will function with the factory amp that I can't answer. That would be best directed to the radio manufacturer of the unit you want to buy. The better radio companies tend to offer an adapter so you can plug their unit into the factory harness. No cutting or splicing. I'd be loathe to start hacking up a perfectly good harness. The JVL is a tuner requiring an external amp?
I'd personally get the existing radio unlocked. One, with it unlocked you make sure everything is working properly. amp, speakers, etc. Having everything working is a good thing to know before swapping in a new aftermarket unit in case you run into a hitch. Two, if you decide to sell the factory radio it's worth much more unlocked. lastly, if you keep, but ever decide to reinstall, you know it's a good unit.
