a ? about 3vze diagnostic codes
OK so i have been having trouble with my 4runner, a 90 v6. I ran a self diagnostic using a paper clip. seemed to work ok. turned the key to ON and the OD OFF light started to flash. it flashed 6 times then paused then 2 more times and it just kept doing that. so I go to my repair manual(chilton) and try to look up what code that could be and I coundnt see anything that matched. any ideas?
It may seem odd that the OD off light was flashing but the check engine light stayed on. i used the paper clip as a jumper wire between terminals te1 and e1

check out the 6th thread down ... the one about service manuals.

I downloaded the one I needed. It is a zip file. Once you unzip it you will find almost EVERYTHING you need. I was very impressed.

You have a transmission code 62 stored in memory. That signifies a defective No.1 solenoid (or a problem with its wiring) in your tranny. Pull the MFI fuse for a few minutes to clear the code, do the paperclip check again to make sure it's gone (if there is no code stored, the O/D light will just blink steadily two times per second), go for a drive, then check to see if the code comes back. If it does, time to order a new solenoid.
PS. What's the "trouble" that you've been having with your 4Runner. Any shifting issues that you notice?
