95 pickup rear shock removal

Hey all, decided to replace my garbage rear shocks finally and i'm having trouble getting them off the post that they sit on, I've gotten all the bolts off that hold them on but the shock it self will not slide off the post no matter what I try. I looked at some videos and most people were able to do it with just a small pry bar but their trucks were considerably less rusty than this one. Anyone have any tricks? is it better to let it sit on the wheels or jack it up by the rear diff? Here's some pictures
