Question 95 4wd differential

Can someone tell me the difficulty level and any tricks for lowering the front differential to get to the oil pan on my 95 4whd pickup truck? Have to install a new timing chain as the plastic guides broke apart and need to get the oil pan off. Thanks for any tips.

Honestly it's an easier job than I expected...

Keep in mind that my truck is apart right now as I lift it, but I changed out the front diff and it only took about 15 minutes for the diff part of it.

You have to unbolt the front driveshaft of course, but then there's only 3 bolts that hold the diff in not counting the CV's on the sides. Depending on just how much you have to move it out of the way you might even be able to get away with not unbolting the CV's.

When I did my pan I was able to jack the engine up and away enough to get it out but I have a 3" BL on my truck so that may not work for you.

Be ready for it though, that bitch weighs over 90 pounds with the brackets on it and full of fluid. Have a floor jack handy.
