95 4runner jerking in 4wd.

hey guys,

im in the market for a 2nd gen 4runner. I went to test drive one today. When I engaged 4wd, and hit the gas,it jerked. It feels like its binding on something. What problem is this? its a 95 auto and automatic hubs. thanks!

Were you driving it on dry pavement when you put it into 4wd?

You should not be driving on dry pavement, or any other high-traction surface in 4wd.

There are lots of things this could be- bad diff, 4wd not engaging all the way, binding of the 4wd on dry pavement, something in the tranny or t-case, different gear ratios front-back...

Also, it doesnt have Auto Hubs, it has Automatic Differential Disconnect, or ADD

There IS a HUGE difference, so for future reference, FYI.
