I have a 1993 4runner 3slow, and recently when going up steep hills and mainly when its hot out, the entire car shakes. Thats right, not just the steering wheel shakes, but the shaking can be felt throughout the entire vehicle.

Also worth mentioning is that 1st gear seems to always work fine, but the moment it shifts into 2nd (auto transmission) the rpm's no longer rise smoothly but instead go up and down ever so slightly.

I'm am novice when it comes to realizing whats wrong with a car, Im thinking probably a transmission problem?

Note* Have checked the transmission fluid.

Any knowledge or advice is always greatly appreciated.

 

Its possible that the shaking that you are feeling is the transmission slipping, but thats just a guess. Take it to a trans shop and have them check it out.
