93 4runner 3.0 motor/tranny questions

Hey, so i bought a 93 4runner pretty good deal at 2500.

First issue, its defiantly the slowest out of the three 3.slows iv owned. its lifted 4 inches on 33's, taking it up a summit to go snowboarding is like taking it on the workout of its life lol.

The odometer broke at 117k, and its been broke with its 2 previous owners so im guessing its got around 250-300k range.
Iv read around and it seems the way to go is go with the 3.4 but it seems out of my price range. I found some cheap rebuild kits for the 3.0 and i know a guy that can rebuild it for cheap, but is rebuilding it going to make much of a difference of power? or am i wasting my time and just need to save up for a 3.4.

Also when my 5 speed tranny is cold i got to shove it into every gear, not just 1st or 2nt, but all. Its not like a huge shove but it takes a little push. if anyone knows what that could be some input would be great, not sure if it could be my clutch or?

thanks,

I'm on my second v6 and this one is slower as well. Have done a wack of work to it, cleaned TB, new wires, plugs, rotor, cap, fuel filter, cleaned PCV, seafoam in the fuel and oil; but, to date the best improvement was a new coil, totally woke up my engine.

I run 33's and 4.56's, it's ok to drive. 4.88's is the way to go, that's next for me.

Running 33's, what gears do you have? All basic tune up stuff done?

Stay away from the 3.0 slow. Engines are garbage. More people had major problems with them than success. Trust me I know from experience.

wheres the coil? never dealt with one before are they hard to replace?

its bone stock, iv replaced the wires, distrib. cap, fuel filter spark plugs, put a cold air intake, and now in the process of putting a new exhaust in. its got a little bit more balls but still not enough, id just like to make it up mountains in a safe rpm heh.

in the future i'm going to definitely put in a 3.4, but for now. little cheap upgrades to get my 3.slow going will do for now.
