Hey yall good evening. First ti posting here just trying to find some insight before I give up on this truck. Long story short bought this 92 dlx pick up for work. Runs strong no check engine light. Noticed the evap cannister was gone so I ordered one on eBay. Truck still driving fine after getting the cannister installed went to get it smogged couple days later truck started having trouble starting n staying on. Knowing it’s an older truck went did a minor tune up. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor, tps sensor, maf sensor and still no check engine light. After getting everything installed got the truck to warm up after several tries of cranking it the starter. It turns on fine but next day tried starting it early am gave me the same problem where I had to give it gas while trying to start it. Still no check engine light one. Just thought I give this forum a try before giving up on this truck.
please if anyone having or had same issue issues I would love some insight on how to resolve this problem

 

There are two sensors at the very front of the engine. One sends the temperature to the computer, and the other one turns on the cold start injector. If you are having issues with cold starts, I would test those two sensors. The temperature sensor is cheap, but the cold start sensor is expensive. If the sensors check okay, then the cold start injector might not be working correctly.
