hey everybody, i got a 1992 pickup with a 22re. its running like crap. it has a real rough idle and has no power and cant hold RPM except at full throttle. anything less it runs terrible. new mass airflow sensor, new fuel filter, new plugs/wires. timing is good, but the strange thing is it only does it about half the time, the rest of the time it runs great, it just will all the sudden start doing this. im stumped, any ideas?

 

sounds like a vacuum leak, but it wouldnt be intermittent.

 

22re's have an AFM(Air flow meter) not a mass air flow sensor. What Desert-rat said. Check for vac leaks. Is the intake hose Lose, cracked, or broken? Look for other vac leaks around the intake man. Whens the last time you checked the distributor cap? It may be bad and wet inside. Air filter dirty?

 

thanks ill check all that stuff out. maybe ill get lucky and it will be just a cracked hose or something
