I have a 92 sr5 4x4 22re. when im driveing down the road after it warms up it cuts out and comes back. when its cold it runs like a ape. the motor has been bored 40 over and completely re-built. i have replaced the coil, igniter, plugs, wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, distributor, distributor guts, fuel injection temp switch, thermo time switch and even put it in the shop for diagnosis. they say its a deep seeded problem but it didnt do this before. any ideas?!?!?

 

cutting out while driving the down the road is the symptom that i had when the wiring harness was corroded internally... it finally failed entirely on the highway, long tow home.

a number of things could cause cutting out like that, tho.

also, just for drill, have you checked the egr operation?

 

i just checked my egr....... its not working properly!!!!!! thanks a million!!!!!!!!!! i checked on youtube how to diagnose the egr and by applying vacuum to it at a idol it should die or run rough but it didnt. thank you again

i don't know if fixing the egr issues will fix the cutting out problem, but if it's not working, you should figure out why.

when i put my 22re in, i used aftermarket exhaust gaskets that blocked the egr port in the head, and i failed smog because of it... no cutting out on the freeway issues, however... fortunately you won't have to worry about smog, since you are in oregon.
