91 Toyota pickup

Hello everyone I'm having some issues with my 91 Toyota pickup with the 3vze.. I traded my parents for it cuz I thought it would be a great hunting/off roading rig and they wanted my pathfinder cuz it ran good unlike this.. anyways so it runs good now that I gave it a tune up plugs wires cap and rotor and fuel filter ect.. but after I drive it for 20 min or so I shut it off to go in to a store or whatever and go back out and start it but it runs like crap and dies and I can start it again and same thing it just wont stay running and then after so many tries it just doesn't want to start at all and will just crank for days.. now the weird thing is if I let it sit for an hour or so and try and start it it will fire up like it was new and act like it had no issues and run like a raped ape.. so after it had that issue I took it straight home and it ran great there and I shut it off and started it a few times and it started fine every time but I decided to give it 10 min before trying to start it again and bam it started its issue again and ran like crap until it just decided not to run again so I waited an hour went back out and it started just fine.. I'm baffled on this one and dont really want to throw a bunch of money in to parts that I dont need so I decided to ask the pros on this any help would be greatly appreciated
