91 Pickup Cab removal possible?

Sorry I've searched and can't find anything. I just got a 91 Xtracab Pickup and was thinking of removing the body to recoat the frame. Has anyone done this? If so, what am I looking at in terms of things to do. I already have the assumption that it would be a pain in the butt.

I saw it done here on an older gen, just checking on my appplication.

I just bought a Xtracab from a guy. He did it in an hour by himself. Once you pull all the body mounts, it just lifts off (the hard part without a crane). This guy stacked tires up on both sides of the truck and used some 2x6s across and just kept adding a tire until he could roll the frame out. The inner part of the fenders is attached to the main cab/firewall so the whole body comes off with it. You should take the fenders off first though just for access. The whole front can stay together. You must disconnect the wiring harness from the computer and all other stuff. (not to much on these trucks though).

i don't think it's that easy really.. you'd have to disconnect brake lines, clutch lines, parking brake, wiring harness, ground straps, radio antenna, shifter plate cover, steering extension, ignition components, coolant lines, fan, and probably some more odds and ends. and the bumper is attached to both body and frame if i remember right.

probably easier is to just jack the body up as if you were doing a 3" body lift (jack it up like 4") and paint the top of the frame through the little gap. if you've got serious rust up top of the frame to fix then obviously this won't work as well.

taking the bed off is another story altogether!
