Hi, this is my first post here and I have a hopefully quick question that I cannot find the answer to.

A salvage yard near me has a wrecked 91 4runner with a A340H transmission and I would like to put it in my 95 4runner. Calling around to transmission shops people are telling me that only a 95 4runner transmission can go in my 95 4runner. Is this the case? If so why? One of the people seemed to think it had to do with electronics. Would there be any way to make this swap work?

from what i understand, electronics will be the issue, i have a 91 and ecm or ecu is specific to 3vze with a340h in '91, hope that helps. i guess if you have 3vze you could possibly take ecm out of donor vehicle also
