so I went 4wheelin and ended up getting stuck, we eventually got it out and when i went to pull out another truck as i was backing up my truck started losing power and relays in my cab started clicking on and off and the lights on my instrument cluster started flashing on and off and a wire from the engine block to a little box on next to the coil superheated and melted. any ideas on what it might be and where i should start looking?

 

is it mounted to the coil? can you take pics and post em? off the top of my head i thing voltage regulator or igniter, also could be balast resistor type thing. where on engine does it go? ground? or a sensor? and need more info on vehicle (ie engine trans and that stuff)

 

its a 3vz 5speed MT. the wires connect from here next to the coil

to here a bold right above one of the spark plugs on the drivers side

 

The orange wire seems to be an added ground. The little black box ill try to look up for you and see what I find this afternoon.

 

the orange wire is a replacement for the wire that was there
