90 4Runner 4wd issue..

Hi all. I posted a while back about trying to get my 1990 4Runner running a little more up to par. Its still not but i have been driving it. A few weeks ago i made a trip up Mt Lemmon (a place in Tucson that actually gets snow!!!) and being a very icey road i decided to kick her in 4WD. As i started moving in 4hi i started feeling a strong pulling to the left and right... this was on ice but once i hit a dry spot it was much worse and the right from tire started "chirping"? And the truck was VERY sluggish like it was fighting itself... What could this be? I did have the differential out to replace the rod bearings, could i have messed up?? Its very depressing because i figured "well even tho its not perfect i have a good 4WD vehicle and now this Any help is appreciated i will check and inspect anything anyone has ideas on..

Would it be possible the PO had to install another rear/front diff and the gears arent matching?? I wanna say thats what it acts like but i have never had that issue so idk what it would act like..

It certainly could be.

You're going to have to jack up one side of the truck and see if the tires rotate the same.

If you have lockers you'll have to get the whole thing off the ground.

Thanks for the reply. They seem to be tho its hard to tell by eye i just tried that as soon as you posted it. I dont have a front or rear locker so it was easy. Is it easy to mess up a cv axle? When i dropped the diff a while ago the weight of the differential was supported by the cv's until i was able to ubbolt them from the diff and let it drop down drop

Well tonight i picked up some nice barely used 31's on wheels, and while i had the truck jacked up i noticed you could wiggle the front passenger tire a generous amount (left to right not up and down) so doing some investigating the idler arm? has play in the end of it... not where at bolts to the frame but where the arm pivots like a bushing or bearing is shot
