90 3.0 Temp problem
Howdy,
Been awhile since I've been on. Anyways was doing some searching for a problem on a 1990runner auto 3.0.
The truck never warms up, with in 15 minutes or so of just idleing like it should.
If I drive it while showing cold on the temp guage, the truck cuts out (too much or not enough fuel I am assuming) but will bounce back and drive fine once it gets going.
Truck stays cold while driving. If I drive and let the truck sit in a parking lot not running for 5 minutes or so, It will warm up on the gauge, but then cools as soon as I start it and start driving again.
Leaning towards a new thermostat, casue I think its stuck open or not opening or what not.
FYI-
Timing appears to be advanced a bit, but I haven't checked it. Picking up a timing light tonight.
No Codes showing. Thoughts, suggestions or Ideas?
Thanks!

I think you already got this one, something's wrong with your thermostat. It's probably stuck open or opens too soon. It's easy enough to get to, just drain fluid and take off three bolts and there it is.
The fact you get a reading on your gauge almost completely rules out a bad sender (which is very rare anyway).

Cool, Thanks for the reply. I am hoping this will clear some of the issues up. Got a factory Toyota thermostat as well.
I will reply back with the results, and may venture further into this thing as far as the timing situation.
Love the new to me toyota problems!
