90 3.0 engine went. Info on swap

So. Main bearing gone..engine slowly killing itself. Fine. I was nice to the 3.0 because I didnt want it to die..did anyway.

So, im seriously thinking swap. Ive put a lot of love into this. I know 3.0 to 3.4 is popular.

I know theres a whole section. Im not needing directions per say, just suggestions on what to throw in. Some discussion on pro's/cons.

Like, which engine has the best work/power ratio as in easiest for most power to do? Is it better to go 3.4 or a chevy small block v6 or v8? Which will fit in my truck easy? Im sure Ill need to move mounts, but I dont want to cut or mess with the frame. So SMART yota tech guys.. what are my engine options? Id love some discussion.

Also im going crate engine. Why? They almost always come with a warrenty. Im a little engine shy right now, duh..just had one croak. I dont really wanna rip one out of an old runner and have it go.

So, think of that.

Another point. I have an auto. Want to go manual? My auto is in perfect condition, sell it to pay for the manual. That I dont mind ripping out of a truck.

Certain issues I should be aware of?

If done this kinda work, long ago and not on a complex toyota. So, I have all the tools..just some info.

THANKS! Now im going to drink to my long trusty friend. May this engine rest in peace, or rot in hell...who knows.

With the 3.4 you use the same motor mounts. Don't really know much about a Chevy swap. But there may be some info in the swap section on that. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f159/

i just rebuilt my 3.0 and i accidently put one of the main bearings in back wards so the one oil vally was blocked. complety locked the engine. i got a set of acl bearings off ebay for 36 dollars main rod and thrust washers. got oil pan gaskets rear main seal and gasket. had the engine in and out in three days (second time goes alot faster)and now it runs like a top. i'm not tryin to steer you to keepin the 3.0 if you have the money for a swap. i'm just sayin my experiance. and i'm real happy that my truck is almost road worthy again after TWO YEARS so i felt like typin about it. if i had the money i'd do a 7mge swap from a supra at the drop of a dime.

The 3.4 swap is probably your best bet, since it is almost directly a bolt-in. Prior to doing mine, the most difficult engine problem I'd ever tackled prior to it was pulling a head off a Sunflowe...er, Sunfire.

I have no regrets swapping mine. It comes down to how much you love your truck and how much blood, sweat, and tears you're willing to put into it.
