I just recently bought a 89 sr5 with a v6 3.0 in it. I purschased it not running. As I try to start it, it turns over fine but does not crank. With a little shot of starting fluid it cranks right up then soon cuts off. I check the air filter and pulled the gas tank out and checked the fuel pump. As I turn it over it seems to be working. I'm stuck where should I trouble shoot from here.. Please help

 

If it starts with starting fluid then you are getting a spark, so it is a fuel problem. Hook up a fuel pressure tester (you can borrow them from Autozone) and see what the fuel pressure is. Eventhough the pump works, it may not be producing enough pressure. If the fuel pressure is good, then it means the injectors are not firing for some reason.
