89 3.0 pickup hand brake adjustment

Hey guys n gals

I have a question on loosening my hand break!
yea im sure that's a new one for you all to see.

I got my truck back from my mechanic and he tightened my hand break, as it was pretty loose. I was going to tighten it myself by doing the reverse trick.

He took it upon himself to tighten it a different way. which way? no clue.

Im positive I could crawl under there look how it works and figure it out, but im injured and can barely shift gears let alone wrench right now.

I have called him and I am waiting for a call back.

I would like a plan B if he doesn't call back today.

Do you have any clue on how he may have tightened it?

If its something simple I will have a buddy come over and help me out.

Its a real "drag" having this break so tight! im eather powering through, or slowing down. 1st and 2nd is very annoying due to the abrupt stopping once I try to cruise at very slow speeds!

If you have any tips please respond.

Greatly appreciated.

I have also never posted any pics on here of my truck. I will do so today!

The adjustment would be on the passenger side right in front of the fuel tank.
Takes two wrenches (14mm or 17mm box wrenches).

Just know these Emergency Brakes do not adjust up from the reverse trick they are kept adjusted up by using the e-brake as well as keeping the rear shoes adjusted.

The adjustment is really only for when the cables start to stretch as they will after a few years

adjustment is done on the rear adjusters

if you loosen the cable it will have no effect on how the shoes drag!!!

Then if your mechanic was clueless and just cranked down on the cable with out adjusting the brakes who knows.
