89 3.0 5speed help model
Hey guys got in a car accident and the transmission wont go into any gear.
I was hoping to get a used imported transmission.
what model transmission so I need?
its a 2wd 3.0 5 speed.
a rebuild will be way out of my price range

What millball said ^^ But, you should make sure it has serious damage before replacing it. It' may just be a shifter issue or something stuck inside that can be worked back into position. Is the case broken or cracked?

maybe if im lucky something moved around.
I could open it and take it to a shop. Would be cheaper or i could find the issue myself if im lucky. Ive never opened a transmission before

You DID find metal in the oil?
I have read posts of transmissions that were rebuilt and shipped and wouldn't go into gear. It was just from standing on end and getting rough handling that bound them up. Took a few thuds of persuasion to get them free. Maybe the impact of you accident made something stick?? I think it was on Marlin Crawler Forum that I read it. Call their shop.
The shifter bushings fall apart and cause shifting problems if they've never been replaced or upgraded.

Do you have a link for it? Thank you

If no metal, I say send it. Honestly sounds like it could be a linkage problem but if you’re pulling the trans potentially anyways, hitting it with a rubber mallet is an easy way to find out if it was just bound up slightly. If you can have someone turn the input or output shaft while you do that’ll maybe help persuade.
