88 trans swap/wiring issues-no power on "start"
Sorry for the double post, I didnt see this specific section!!
I know this doesn't exactly belong here, but figured you guys would help out.
To begin, my buddy and I bought a 1988 4Runner was originally an 22RE Automatic. The previous owner swapped out the auto trans for an 5-spd manual and then gave up the project because a loss of interest. Supposedly he had it running, but it has sat for a couple years since. We got the truck for a steal, but can't track down a wiring issue. IF i am missing something, just tell me what direction to go in or what to search for, but because I don't know I am posting this thread:
First, the truck is getting power to the ignition. The lights, windows, etc all work. Once you turn the key on to the "start" position NOTHING happens at the starter. No click, not nothing..
No power to the fuel pump either.
When you jump the starter, it will turn over and run if I spray a little carb cleaner in it; however, its still not receiving any gas.
I've checked all of the relays and fuses under the driver side dash and under the hood.
I've researched the neutral safety switch and have followed the directions per this website for this. This made no difference.
Still nada..
Any pointers??
Thanks!!
Chuck

After reading some more and looking over what the previous owner has done, perhaps I did the wrong wires for the neutral safety jump. I read it is on the auto harness and is a 9-pin female connection that should be located in the engine bay... that is no where to be found, suggestions?
Thanks again fellas
