So I just picked up a 88 Pickup to use as a daily / trail rig. I've got a 03 4runner and had a set of sliders ordered. I've spoke with the vendor and they are willing to do a set for the pickup instead of the 4runner, so now I'm trying to find out what I need (they've not done one of these yet, and they're not local so need to get it right the first time). It's a short bed, and what sliders I've found online are somewhere between 58" and 64" long. I'm measuring 68" between the fender wells, so I was thinking about going 64" minimum, possibly longer. Are there any issues with going longer, or is 64" about the max? Also, it really doesn't look like there is room to weld the sliders on without them hanging lower than the frame. Do most run a body lift with weld on sliders? I'm sure this has been covered before, but apparently I'm not searching right because I've not had much luck finding answers.

You can make these as long as you want .

I have seen them tucked up against the rocker panels why would they end up below the frame.

That would depend on just what type of material your using.

Just hope your dimensions you want are correct.

i've got a set of TG sliders welded on my truck and they are welded almost flush with the bottom of the frame, there is not much gap between the pinch weld and main rail of the slider. i didn't use any scab plates for my sliders, but you could put some on with a right angle so they weld under the frame as well as on the face - this could give you an extra 3/16-1/4" lower mounting point - check the TG website to see what I mean. for length, you don't want to go all the way up to the wheel wells in case you are going larger tires in the future or you may have to trim them. i would keep them around 2-3" away from each side if you can since you're never really going to get an object to hit that bare spot. I believe the TG sliders for a shortcab is 58"
