88 22R Aisan Carb smells rich but runs great
My 2wd 88 22R'ed runs great. I hate to fool with it but it smells rich when idling. I have turned the idle mixture screw in and set at 3.5 turns out warmed it up and adjusted it. It likes being open 4-5 turns for highest and smoothest idle. Some of the emissions stuff is gone but EGR still in place. It does have a 268 comp cam. No catalytic convertor. Starts easy, idles at 800 rpms. I also plugged the AAP off. any where else something can cause this without affecting the performance negatively ? Motor and carb is original with 210,000 miles. Thanks for any help.
