88 22 re

I have a 1988 22 re in extended cab 4x4 was automatic swapped
Over to 5 speed rebuilt motor once with engine builders.com parts
Didn't last long rebuild the second time all name brand parts
And gaskets no problems this round except I have pretty well much
Replaced everything under the hood except distributor 02 sensor
And ecu . Was to the point where it would basically idle and would bog
Down on acceleration but if you clamp return line off seems to
Do better nut if I unplug 02 sensor will idle and run fine I know
Read a post by chef with a four runner doing about the sasame
And his ecu was bad so I may go and get one and try it to see
Just had truck for so long and would not get rid of it or give up
Its my daily driver and my woods truck its always seem to have a on and off
Problems that one day or two it would run like crap then a week or two of
Running fine just seems like I have spent so much money and time swapping
Parts and replacing parts that I might get some where but always
Back to square one lol. But I will win this battle eventually

Is the truck around alot of water or humidity? I have seen issues like this caused by wetness. Try cleaning all of your electrical plugs with and get the corrosion off and coating them with dielectric grease.

You clamping the return line. How is your fuel system? I try to mention in each of my builds about how bad they get. I spend alot of time just cleaning the fuel systems on these trucks from the tank, thru the injectors and the return line. The fuel injectors have some poorly designed crimps in the wire harness that has caused me and a few others some No Start issues.

It could be your ECU, but I doubt it. It is a real solid piece of equipment. How is all of your grounds?
