87 4runner. lockers and power adders

I wanna put a locking rear in my 87 4runner. Does anyone have advice on what to put in? I drive on the street a lot. How much will a locking rear affect the street drive-ability of my truck? Also, how difficult is the install? On a different note, ive been looking into gettin a little more power out of the 22re without killing mpg's. Intake? Headers? Anything else and is it worth it?
Thanks, hooker

did you notice any gain in power or loss in mpg with the header and exhaust?

to get more power and better mpgs...probably not going to happen..you can put a header on it and free up the exhaust with a 2.25" system but you wont gain alot..lol

check into putting a supra AFM on it..i've heard that along with the exhaust mods does quite well!

other than that..you can throw a cam in it..bore it..stroke it..just depends on how much money you wanna spend..

best bang for buck..swap in a 3.4L V6..LMFAO

That's a darn good header right there. You can also to the Supra MAF conversion if you can find the MAF then you'll have a little more air going in and a little more air going out. Probably won't see a large jump in mpg or hp. I'd also recommend going with the Aussie in the rear. I like mine so far.
