87 4Runner

Hey uys I'm back at it again on the wife's 87 4runner. I had a charge light come on the dash the alternator died.... I'm guessing. I deal with nothing but Toyota so I had another alt. On the shelf it passed @ Autozone. So I swapped em & my charge light is still on. Any suggested tips!!? Also my temp gauge is jumping a lot & I have what I suspect to b my 2 temp sending units unplugged & it still jumps up & down even if I jus started it

Check grounds, check battery and battery connections, clear ECU codes. Hopefully someone else can chime in on the temp gauge.

X2 on the temp gauge, I have a similar problem. I believe the temp sending unit is the one on the intake manifold between cylinders 2 and 3. Mine goes right up to half way right when I start it in the morning and usually doesn't move. I heard the screws that hold down the flexible PCB behind the instrument cluster can come loose. Being part of the grounding in the circuit, that can make the gauges kind of go wherever they want. Unfortunately that didn't fix it for me. Tried a new sensor, still the same. Still haven't figured it out yet.

As for the charge light I agree ^, check grounds, battery, and clear ECU.

X3 on the temp gauge! I've replaced the sensor and snugged the screws. Still no luck. Anyone have any idea what it could be?
