87 2wd Frame and 86 4wd Frame (rear only)

I have a 86 4wd: everything is good except for the rear frame
Found a deal on a parted out 87 2wd with a good frame (2 hours away).

Is the back section of a 87 2wd Frame the same as the 86 4wd Frame?

In other words, can the back of a 87 2wd frame be matched/welded properly to the 86 4wd front? Would any other rear mounting modifications be needed?

Thanks in advance for any information on these frames!

My only reference to the 2wd frame is a photo in a Haynes manual, page 10A-2. It shows a 88 2WD and the frame from below center, it appears boxed (at least on the insides). All other mounting points appear similar to that of the 4wd.
