86 Pickup Turbo Parts Needed
Ok I bought this 86 pickup with the factory turbo. The motor has a rod knocking or something haven't got that far in to it yet. So I'm starting to disassemble it. Motor and transmission come out just fine thanks to all the the threads I read on here. Take off the exhaust manifold and turbo.
The manifold has a crack and the turbo is gone it has a crack in it. would like to build this thing back to stock as I can, but very interested in changing to a ct26 turbo. Does anyone know the steps to complete this. Also need a manifold if anyone knows where to get one. Thanks

There's a yahoo group for the 22rte run by Jeff Mosk.
Per my understanding the ct26 (from the supra - others may be different) can bolt up to the stock manifold if you slot the mouting holes on the turbo.
Ebay or the 22rte group for a manifold.. Otherwise I think you're looking at about $250 from toyota via a discount dealer.

I know that the CT26 from an MR2 and from a supra are different
dcg9381, do you have any idea if the stock oil feed/return from the CT20 will work? I've seen CT26's and know they have the same "dual location" fitting, I'm just not sure how it would line up.

I haven't done one, so I can only repeat what I've read and seen... The stock feed drain can be used with mild "bending".
Somewhere on the web there is a comparison of the ct20 and ct26 side by side.. Again, I'd go to the 22rte forum.
A "new" factory manifold is around $200-$250 at a discounter. Alternately, there are people that weld cast iron, but I don't know how well that will hold up. The turbo is cracked - I don't recommend welding it.
Someone talked to me yesterday about manifold repair - the put pins in the iron and weld the pins together, but it's a bit expensive.. over $100.
