86 pickup hesitation

I have a 86 4x4 pickup thats stock and its giving me some issues. It has a slight hesitation at part and moderate throttle. Its not a hesitation like its cutting out, but feels as if its pulling a whole bunch of timing or something and just real sluggish. I have only had the truck a few months and it had a ton more power before, but now is sluggish and when I first take off the check engine light comes on. Just changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and it seems to be a bit better but did not solve the issue. Whats next?

do a search for the way to read the check engine code as that will most likely point you and us in the right direction on how to fix the issue.

If it has a carburator might need to adjust idle mixture, that fixed my hesitation. I just drilled out plug and adjusted for highest RPM.

I don't believe the carb'd trucks had CEL's. At least mine doesn't. Maybe the cali spec ones were different?
