86 Carburated Pickup Power Adders?

Hey, My name is tommy and im not very familiar with little trucks at all. I have been into muscle cars for several years and am sad to say all i really know about is big blocks. I have just purchased a 1986 Toyota Pickup with a regular 22r carburated motor. I bought the truck for 600 dollars from an old farmer and it runs like a top (for its age). I am not really interested in mud slinging or rock crawling because it is just a rwd truck. All i want is a fun little ride with just enough power to have a bit of fun with. Can anyone please suggest simple power adders that would get the job done while still being easy on the wallet. I dont have the biggest budget.
Thnx alot
-Tommy-

should have got one with the 22rte... too much of a pita to retrofit a turbo to a non-turbo motor. or convert it to fuel injection and get the 22re supercharger from LCE... 2500 bucks for the SC though

well, with a bit of work, a 22rte exhaust manifold and turbo could be adapted to a blow-through configuration. not a perfect solution, but with an aftermarket ignition system with boost retard and knock sensing should be able to boost you 20 hp or so over stock safely
spend a bit more and convert to full engine management system, ditching the carb, and maybe pull 30-50 hp over stock
rebuild with forged pistons, aftermarket EMS (as above), should be able to double stock hp, intercool and maybe a tad more.

Smaller tires would improve your effective gearing for better off the line performance. 22Rs and 22REs like to be revved

Pretty much where ever the valves start floating. That motor can take it
