I have some 5w-30 left over and wondering if I can use it in the 3.0L?

You can... its a little thin though. I wouldn't bother, just run 10w-30

Typically 5W30 is the recommended grade.

Well the 5W to 10W is not going to make a difference after startup, so it really shouldnt matter.

If its hot where you live, 80s or higher, you should run 10 40, it wont burn as much.

But yea, 5 30 is a bit thin.

My 4runner has had 5w 30 put in it since it was new. It now has 167,000 miles on it.

5w30 may be a bit thin for warmer weather vehicles. If it works fine, no abnormal knocking noises, etc. and oil pressure is within normal parameters, then it shouldn't cause any issues. However, if you're not getting below freezing, you might consider a 10w30 if you can find it, or a 10w40, particularly if most of your driving is cruising on the highway.

Just my opinion though.
