was it like a high pitched whirl?
like WOOOOORRRLLLBBBLLLEEE
or was it a low pitched growl?

If so, either of these cases may lead me to believe you need to lube your spindle bushings.

I guess it all depends how far one drives with the hubs locked in I drive 10 miles round trip to work.

20 miles to the grocery store round trip .

70 miles a week

So it really doesnot matter to me as I need the 4wd to get out my driveway

Yeah, thats kind of what I thought too. Just thought I would throw it out there and see what other people thought.

So i'm gathering from all this... its safe to leave them locked in as long as its some what slick outside and I'm not driving to terribly far with them locked in. Thanks for all the help guys!!

I lived in Anchorage AK until my recent move to So Cal.

My philosophy on snow. If it's less than 3-4", I don't lock.

Good tires go a long way.

Ice is a different story all together.

I had an '87, if I woke up in the morning and there was snow they would get locked. No sense in using something for other than what it was designed for.
