4runner sub installs
Well I'm tired of having this big box behind my seats, I want to get rid of the pair and get 1 10" sub and tuck it away. I found this install, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/296763/7 and it's SUPER clean, but then I loose the back speakers which I don't want to do. What have others done for their sub installs?

you can loose the side pockts in the back and buildsme boxes in those.
orrrr your can do what is on the link you posted and put the speakers in the rear pillars where itlooks like they are cut for one but theres nothing tere.
it woulnt take much.

it's a 2nd gen 4runner. I like your idea Runethechamp. I was planning on making something to fit in where the cargo pockets are, but I don't think there is enough volume for a sealed box there.

I have a 10" in each cargo box and they require .75 cubic feet of air and they work great. I wil look around and see if I can find a picture or two but yes its a great place to install and you lose no storage space. I have 1990 4 runner just for the compairison so 2nd gen info for ya.

This may not be as "clean" of an install as you were thinking, but hey, it works!!!!
Yes, that's a 10" sub. Bone jarring, filling shattering is NOT what I was going for here. Actually, I was going for COMPLETELY free parts. Almost made it too, but the amp I was given didn't work. The sound stays in the truck and doesn't irritate everybody in a 5 car radius.

Holy crap, but that is one clean install. That guy has skill, that's for sure. Now I have an idea for what to do with mine.
The JL sub is nice. Pioneer makes one that takes a much smaller box than a conventional one, but needs a fair amount of power to drive it. It might be an alternative to huge boxes.

I love his "quick" kick panel mounts for his speakers. His quick work looks better than my time consuming work.
