4runner Seat Slider Repair

I pulled the seats out of my new 4runner to shampoo them and fix them so they will slide. Like pretty much all seats the cable will snap. The driveside was pretty easy. I took some steel cable, and crimped some "eyes" on it and with some "s" hooks connected the sliders together so the lever will make both sides open to slide the seat forward.

But the passenger side it was a little more involved. My calbes were broke and really i didnt feel like repalcing the setup. I had some more cable left over and made a cable to attach to the sliders. There is already a tab with a hole on it that turns down and with the cable attach to the other side it will open that side.

I then welded a metal rod to the tube that turns and opens the latch to let the slider open up. So pretty much i added a lever for the passenger side. This negates the original setup that the back flips forward and the seats slides. But now i can recline the seat forward or back without having the seat try to go forward.

But the seat works great now, and is back in the 4runner. now to fix other things
