4runner or pickup????
Hey guys, im probobly gonna be rambling on for a bit but just bear with me on this theres alot of information included with this conundrum! I have had my white 91 extra cab for about a year now and just recently got a 83 straight axle for and rebuilt it, (its the camo one) I bought my 91 for $2500 at the toyota dealer i work at (im a tech in training), it only had 150k on it and it has every option except for A/C, and i love it, it has absolutely no problems. I also have my chevy pickup which ill never sell because ive had that since i was 14 years old and was box stock when i got it and i did all the work on it so far. So thats that, but i just bought this 87 sr5 runner from another tach at my work for $500 which has 175k on the body with a rebuilt 22re, rebuilt tranny and rebuilt rear third member, it also has every option including a/c cruise, and all the power goodies and the best part is that everything works, the only problem with it is that the reason the guy at my work was selling it was after he did all the work on it he got divorced and his wife got the runner and blew the hg or cracked the head and gave it back to him, im not sure yet cuz i havent torn it apart yet but either way its not a big deal to me, heads are fairly cheap. But the big dillema now is that i can only afford insurance on two vehicles so one of the yota's has to go either way ill make money whichever one i sell but i fell in love with the runner in the 10 miles i drove it home, but i still like the newer feeling and somewhat more reliability of my 91(not much more) but the 4runner is awesome and once fixed reliable too! i also ride dirtbikes so i guess i could use my chevy to haul it around but i dont like to. I dont know what im gonna do, any advise would help! Thanks in advance
It looks identical to this just stock and not quite as clean, but it does have MT/R's on it
this is my 91
and this is the chevy

keep the pickup....if u get rid of either...u will be wishing u had it back somewhere down the road...so really...its just the better reliability of the pickup...it has a bed that u can just throw stuff in...its ext cab..which means it has SOME room..(unlike my 1980 reg cab..)....sounds like u already have the pickup sas'd...if not....do so..u WILL love it..but yeah anyways...keep the pickup..sell the runner...i hat chevy's...but if that thing is that important to you...then i wouldnt want to be puttin a dirtbike in the back of it...thats for dang sure....the only runners i like..are the SA 1st gens...i dont like any others..lol..

um, why not just keep them both?
No matter what you do, you will always want the other one, I had a 87 4runner for a while, and the only reason why I bought it was because I couldn't afford a clean 89-95 extra cab at the time, the whole time I had it i would drool over every extra cab I saw, saying to myself how I should have waited to get one of those,
and now after I've had two extra cabs, I would love to have another 4runner (any generation), and everytime I see one (esp an 87 (or 88?) SR5, with those same stripes as your pic) that is lifted with big tires and stuff, I think about how I could have bought one and had left over money to play with,
The 91 may have the "newer" feel, but if your like me, that will put you into the "I should have just gotten a Tacoma" boat, so there's another option, sell them both and get a Tacoma, or 3rd gen 4runner
flip a coin, it wont matter, you'll still have a Toyota!!! (Unless the coin lands on it's edge, then you'll just have to sell the Chevy)

Go with the 4Runner. lockable storage and the versatility or no top/soft top/ hard top/half top if you cut it. You have the chevy for the dirt bike and besides the yota truck has chrome all over it.

Runner, you already have 1 pickup. I had my prized Lightning and I STILL put stuff in the bed. No mater how nice, a pickup is still a pickup. Keep the Runner and you'll have 2 pickups, a full time & part time.

I chose a 4runner since
- it can comfortably seat 4
- you could use it as a pickup if I have to. The 4runner could work as a truck. Just remove the top and fold the seats down. It might also help to replace the plastic interior in the back with sheet metal and to remove the carpet and use bedliner on it. Not sure if it'll fit a dirtbike
- it has a 22re (is the pickup a V6?)
- it also has AC, not sure where you're located but in southern california it's a must

1st gen 4unners are the best of both worlds since it is basically a one peice pickuptruck. And im pretty sure if u fold the seats down you could fit a dirtbike (i think there is 5-6ft of space back there with the rear bench folded down)
