4runner jerks when headlights are turned on

HI all,
When I am driving and I turn the headlights on, it,s like dumping the clutch when you push start a truck, like a jolt, just for a split second, then everything is fine . When the headlights are on, and I roll down the rear window, it jerks till I let go of the switch. When the headlights are off, and I roll down the window , no problem. Any ideas? Thanks. robert

Sounds like you have a bad ground and it's affecting the EFI delivery. Check your battery grounds to the body and the block. Look for corrosion or loose wires anywhere at all in your electrical system...even at the ECM (pass. side kick panel) and fuse boxes (driver's side kick panel and under the hood). Have you been blowing fuses, lately?

Nope. No blown fuses. I'll check all the grounds. I wonder if this might be tied to my running rough problem. thanks. robert

I had the same problem on my 86 22RE. It was a power distribution problem. There is a wire coming off of the battery that goes into the underhood fuse box on the passenger side. When the headlights were on that wire would get really hot. I used a new thicker guage wire and it has been fine ever since.
