4Lo Shifter Engagement Issue

I have an issue with my transfer case shifter on my 94 auto 4Runner. I had to remove the handle to replace that stupid slider mechanism and upon reinstalling the handle I can't adjust the button properly. I have even tried to put it in 4Lo without the handle on and manually pushing the switch. I know this shifter button is adjustable and have tried it min max and everything in between to get it to work. I suspect what the brake pedal tells it it is ok to shift into 4Lo or something similar. I live in Cleveland Oh and have been using 4Hi in these past few snow storms and know it works. Any help would be much appreciated.

This link? http://ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995_4Rn...r/troubles.pdf That is the worst help I have ever gotten. I have factory service manuals and have access to Alldata. I do try to use the search function as well as Google to resolve problems before asking fellow members. For credentials I have a few ASE certs and work with auto parts for a living. I just can't possibly understand how if I cant get the the thing to engage by adjusting it to its max and min adjustments and all in between what should I do? Any help or more importantly experience from a situation similar would be greatly appreciated. ~Derek C

not sure what to tell you... try pulling it apart again and doing it over? if it worked before, then stopped working after you pulled it apart, maybe you missed something on the re-installation.

^^

does the shifter button press in?
I think I know what you are talking about but I was able to resolve it.
The problem I had was that it was installed incorrectly. Re-did everything and it came out fine.

Good luck
