Replacing the windshield as well , There was some rust under it , so .. had to fix it as well .

I wonder how much of an improvement you'll see in gas mileage in switching to the fibreglass over the stock steel body panels. Is it much of an improvement, or are those fibreglass panels reasonably thick/heavy?

 

yep ... white again .

not much ... the fiberglass is built to last .. so it's fairly heavy duty .

I think the lack of undercoat needed will be the most weight savings

 

unless your making fiberglass floors then you still need the undercoating, hehe. Actually there may be a good market for fiberglass floor panels, fwiw.

 

id buy some.

 

actually , I ment rust panel protection .. not undercoat .. DUH .. sorry . sprayed on the inside of the 1/4r panels .


glass floors ? ... hmmmmmmmm maybe kevlar ... or carbon fiber ? This would be the only way I would do it .. why dont I just make a complete cab replacement ... one day . We have a complete 4 runner shell comming ...

 

NIIIICE! You are going to be making complete 4Runner shells! You can buy complete Camaro bodys and 55 Chevy bodys, to build your dream car. Soon we will be able to buy a fiberglass 4Runner body that we can build up and it will never rust...maybe shatter, but never rust. NIIIICE! When will these be available and how much will they run?

How well do the 1/4s fit?Im tryin to make up my mind on replacing mine or repairing them.Its a small hole by the gas tank. I was thinking 2 fiberglass ones would be great if they line up and are not going to need tones of mud to make look right.

Sweet project.reminds me of mine except your way farther along.

 

Corey's 1/4s fit great and require little to no work. I deffinately recomend them.

 

 

what should i expect to pay for a set? is it just the outer skin or is the inside part where the gas tank filler is in there too?

fuel filler pocket is there ... really , there is very minimal work to get these on .

 

paint is done ... and curing .

 

all done . 13 days

I also decided to do the bumpers in gunmetal gray , and also did a stripe in the same .. kinda matches the wheels and breaks up the white .

 

The bumpers are still ugly, but they look 10x better now! Amazing job on that Runner!
