4 runner without tail lights

Hello,
I'm wondering if someone can help me. I have no tail lights on my truck (everything else works: stops, reverse lights ecc), everytime i put a new fuse in it blows. I checked all the wires in the tail and the one that goes to the tail and it is all good. tried to find the cause behind the dash and i have no clue. i also tried to disconnect everything that seems to be on the same circuit and the fuse blowed again.
no ideas left. the truck is a 1987 4 runner 22re

Thanks for your help.

check your wiring harness for bare wires and the harness as it goes into the housings.
You have something that is grounding out

Just when did this start??

Does this have a trailer converter box??

They are known to cause strange light problems

Add any electrical devices??

Any work to the 4Runner??

4 runner without tail lights

Oh buddy I had some strange wiring business happen as well check all the fuses in there I found a old alarm sticker in my truck but can't find the alarm anywhere so that's something I may never find or know about but I did find that my fuses keep getting blown with strange combinations or turning things on. I now have no dome fuse but if I turn my running lights on the dome lights work as should. If I put in the dome fuse they all work as should with out turning on my running lights buuuut all the running lights stay on even if the switch is off the only way I could get them to turn off was disconnecting the battery. So check fuses check combinations. There is a relay that can be out I think it's on the passenger side tho up behind the kick panel. I pulled all my wiring out of my tail lights because I did have a tow package connected removed all of that and still had the issue so I know mine is connected somewhere maybe the light warning relay? Not sure let me know if u find anything

Check flex harness between body and tailgate. You could have worn out insulation on wires that lead to license plate lights, ant that causes short to ground.
