4" lift with 31's?

4" lift with 31's?

Ran across a guy who has a 4" lift kit that will fit my 87 IFS runner. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it but my truck has a brand new set of 31's on it and I'm afraid it will look goofy riding around with a 4" lift and 31's. I'm thinking it would be okay since my runner has the torsion bars cranked up about 1.5" already, I could owner the torsion bars and it would only raise it about 2.5" more than it is now.
My Ideal setup would be a 2" lift with a 1" body lift

Does anybody in Yotatech land have a 4" lift on 31's they could post. And what is the stock height measurements from the fender to a set of 16" rims?

All feedback and opinions will be greatly appreciated

If it's a good deal, take it and maybe even wait a while to put it on.

I would say it is a waste of money. You can fit skinny 33's on the stock setup... so why a 4inch IFS lift really? Do you plan to run 35's? If so, then get it. But if you are ok in the 31 - 33 inch category you don't need it.

For conservative lift, I'd say save your money for 1-2" body lift and ball joint 1.5 lift. You can put 33's on.

Why does everyone worry about a rig "looking goofy"? It's a work in progress. Do what you want and don't worry about everyone else. Get the lift and store it, or get the lift and put it on. Or don't get the lift. Your truck, your decision.

Mine had to look like this for a while. So what??

I'm not worried about what everyone else thinks. I'm worried about what I think. I just wanted to know what it would look like. I don’t want to go past 32 inch tires on my runner, I want to stay away from 33s and I don’t want to re gear (I have 4:56 Now). I want a normal multi use truck with a moderate lift. I'm trying to decide If I want a 4" lift with 31s or 32s. And keep it that way.
I will eventually buy an 85 or later solid axel yota and make it my full blown off road rig with 33+ 4:88+

So I don’t want to buy the kit and install it later, I guess I should have been more specific. (and that’s what my lady always says)

If you are happy with 31's then don't bother with a lift... spend your money on some armour, a rear locker or maybe a winch... or a trip to vegas

On a different note you can run a skinny 33 fine on the stock set up... no re-gear necessary. Just thought I would mention that.

IMHO...Body Lift = Fail. They make the ride s**t and don't help at all for clearance which is what you want in a lift. Supension all the way.

You realise... Body lifts don't have any effect on the suspension at alll..
so i doubt that the ride will really change...

So everyone thinks my 4Runner looks goofy?

4" lift with 30's with about 500# in the back.

Then again I HATED mine with stock suspension and 28s.

Okay fine. Those wheels and tires were the largest off the shelf (rims are 16", 3.75" backspacing- I knew it was getting a lift) that didn't hit the body with the wheels turned full lock: the shop mounted the tires on the rims and mounted them to the truck prior to purchase, and we tested it with myself (220#) and my brother (270#) bouncing on the front bumper... before the lift.

maybe another perspective shot will help:

That's better, in the first pic the profile blends the tires in with the wells, makes them seem even skinnier than they are.

Quick Reply: 4" lift with 31's?
