4.0 as a swap for 3.0???

I know the 3.4 is a bolt up swap for the 3.0, but would the 4.0 fit in a 2nd gen 4Runner? I'm sure you would need an adaptor plate and it would be more work, but is it geometrically possible (does it fit around the suspension and front dif)? I only ask because a 08 Tundra with 500 miles came into one of my shops I service that looks like it might total.

Thanks, I didn't come accross that one on my search. I searched 4.0 swap and after 11 pages I didn't find anything.

Sounds like something that would work if you had a SAS with 6" lift.

That's pretty much my perception after reading that as well.
