My 94 Runner (3VZE) engine is out and completely torn apart. I was suprised to find that most gaskets were sealant rather than prefab gaskets. Is this what the factory uses, or should I assume someone else has broken down the engine? Does anyone have a recommendation on using gasket sets or sealant? If so, what kind and where do you get it/them from?

i'd get a kit from rock gasket, use all the rubber gaskets but on the oil pan use RTV. don't use any of the cork gaskets because they're crap

I would recomment the original Toyota gasket kit. Includes pretty much everything including the headgaskets, gaskets for the timing covers, injectors and for the fuel pipes. I even have some gaskets I have no idea where to put. Use RTV where Toyota recommends.

With headbolts? Watch out, you might be getting what you pay for there.
