3vze Engine that cuts off gearbox in D mode

Hello, my name is Emmanuel, I own a 1995 Toyota 4runner 3VZE engine with automatic transmission.

For a month now, the engine cuts out while driving with the gearbox in D mode. It happens only when I release the gas pedal, no problem on N and P positions.

For the moment, I have not found the cause of this problem. I know that on Yotatech, there are people more competent than me, hence my request.

If you have an idea, where this problem comes from, I would be grateful.

Thank you for your help,
Emmanuel

Hello emmanuel during your issue with your 4runner do you have a cel on? Also does it only do in drive or does it do it in reverse as well?

Hello Toy95, thank you for your help. No fault appears on the dashboard, I ran the engine diagnostics from the diagnostic sheet no fault. The problem also appears in reverse. I'm going to remove the intake throttle and check the idle thermostat.

Also it would be a good idea to turn up your idle. It can be done on the intake. If you don't know where idle screw is it is located on the front side of the intake can't really miss it. Try turning up the idle that should fix your problem. Also might be a good idea to pull the air intake tube off and check to see if you have any carbon built up on the blades I fought that issue a couple years back. Best of luck.

Hello,

Happy New Year 2023!

The problem comes from the thermostat on the throttle. This one doesn't work anymore, it doesn't open at the requested temperature. It seems that the throttle is not manufactured anymore, and I did not find a repair kit for the thermostat. Would you have a solution for me, please?
