3vz-e Swap To 22re!!!!!!

I got a serious question and a yea. I want to swap the 3.slow from my truck out and put back in the legendary motor of the world back in..... the 22re.
I'm wondering if there is any major things that will need to be changed out besides the motor and tranny(IF THAT AT ALL).

Thanks peeps would really like some info causei'm prolly gonna do it reguardless the price or situation just need info.

New motor mounts are needed, new bellhousing is need, and new wiring is needed.

If money isn't a matter, then I would swap the 3.4 in, its just as reliable and it bolts straight into your existing motor mounts and tranny.

The 3.0's aren't that bad, in fact there a very good engine, but when your comparing it to everything else toyota ever made, they kinda suck, but compared to anything domestic, psh they're ten times better... If It was me I'd just rebuild the engine, a kit is about 3-400 bucks, and you could do some simple modifcations like port polish, milling the heads, balancing the engine, freeflow exhaust and stuff that doesn't cost much and get a good performance gain. You could do all o the above for about 500$ also... DIY..

You sure you're qualified to do an engine swap?

If that's what you want, I'd sell the truck and buy one with a 22re already in it.

x2

The fab work probably won't be worth the end result. Doing a 3.4 swap is far easier, makes more power, and gets better mileage.

Screw the 22re. Go with the 3.4L. Itl be less work (much less) and you will have more power!

Yea the 3.4 does sound promising. The 22re is easier to work on..... Gas milage is a bit better.... Plus its the true toyota motor. Hmm i dunno. I like the 22re is a peaceful engine and its the most reliable but hmm.

Just buy a 4Runner with a 22RE in it already. It's plenty powerful for the purpose.

Since you really dont have a clue I wouldnt recommend you doing any engine swap. Just go out and get something that already has the engine in it. If anything the 3.4 would be easier to work on. With a 3.4 swap you would get the odbII. And the last I have heard the 3.4 is a true toyota motor as well. It has the same reliablity as the 22. It just hasnt been around as long. And the 3.4 would probably give you the same gas mileage if not better gas mileage. The only downside to the 3.4 is the cost of getting the engine. Everybody wants it and they are hard to come by since people dont scrap toyotas like 350s and 4.3s. If you were smart you would look into a 3rz if you really want a 4 cylinder unless that isnt a true toyota motor either

I have a rusty frame on a 22re truck and I have a good frame on from a 3vze truck.
I have heard conflicting information can someone that nows for sure tell me if mods need to be done to the frame or will 22re mounts bolt right on to 3VZE frame?
Thanks

cut reposition and weld. probably six to eight hours at least. then you have to remove the 3vz mounts too, another four to six hours. not an easy or fun job.

i would just go ahead and do a 3.4 swap. you'll thank yourself later...
sell leftover parts and help pay for it.

From what im told the 3.4 and 3.0 had the R150F tranny and used same motor mounts, its not hard to swap over electrical wires over....I may consider that for my 88 xtra cab....
