I just read on another thread that the 4Runners that come with 31 inch tires stock have 4.88 gearing. Is that true?! If so I wouldn't need a re-gear.

i dunno how yall are getting such negative effects from your tires. I'm running 33x12.5x15 on my Tacoma with 4.10 gears, 3" BL and 3-4" suspension. i ONLY rub at full turn on the FRAME RAIL, and it's ever-so-slight. i get 20 mpg if i drive nice.

Look at the driver side door jamb and there is a white sticker with tire inflation info. Below that is your vehicle color trim and axle code. The axle code will have a letter and three numbers. My code is G292 and yours will look something like it. Decode the numbers here:

If you have 3.75" backspacing on an 8" wide rim it won't rub, you gotta pound your pinchweld flat though, I run this exact setup with a 3" body on my '86.

I wouldn't say that, but it CAN cause more wear on steering components... I've never busted anything and I'm running 33x12.5's and I wheel the piss outta my truck, I'm going up to 35's soon on IFS until I break something, then the SAS will follow!

I've driven a 94 chevy blazer with a 350 in it. I got 11 mpg. I just don't really want to have anything less than 15-16mpg. But I'm getting bigger tire no matter what so I will see how it works out.
