3.0 v6 ignition timing

I'm new to the sight, and looked to see if there was a thread to answer this question but couldnt find one. I was wondering ? If you short out the TE1 and the E1 terminals does the timing hold still or still jump around? shorted out and at operating temp my timing holds around 12to15 deg. but moves around constantly. Is that normal? not shorted it holds 15 deg at idle. occasionally not shorted the idle drops low and the timing goes to the far side of the scale then the idle goes up and the timing moves to the 15 deg area. thanks in advance.

ps 1994 pick up 5 speed 109k

Ummmm - you must not have searched very far, there's quite a few threads on advancing the timing on these motors beyond the factory 10*BTDC

Some advise that the TPS has issues ( out of adjustment spec. or faulty ) if the time still jumps with the Diagnostic pins jumpered. Might want to check the TPS.
