3.0 Timing?

I'm trying to determine if there is something out of kilter here... When checking the timing with the connector shorted, the engine speed doesnt change. The timing is pretty much dead on 10*. When you remove the connector wire the timing retards ever so slightly, maybe 1-2*.... is this normal? Its been a while since I've timed it but i thought there was a very noticable difference when the connector was shorted.

Last time it did something similar, i was unable to time it to 10*, turned out the o2 sensor was bad..

Thanks,

That has always been my experience on my 3.0.

Did you notice a difference in idle speed with the connector shorted? I seem to remember it dropping much lower.

mine doesn't drop noticeably, but I do see the shift from 10 to 8 degrees BTDC when I pull the jumper.

My rpm drop has always been very small. Barely noticeable.

Great... thanks guys... sounds like this is either normal or you guys have the same problem as i do...lol.

I'm hoping it was just the TPS out of adjustment... I'll take it for long test drive and see.

When I show the timing light on my 10degrees it seems to jump back and forth. 2 degrees either way
