Ah. Ya should look up on here how to figure your rear end ratios, it ain't hard, then look at your door sill plate, and see what it says for a ratio code.

Like 3.4 swap? It'll give you butt-ton more power, reliability, and waaaay more aftermarket support. If there isn't any current issues with your 3wheezy, I'd run it, saving for the 3.4, and swap when the motor poops out, or when you're all saved up.

Lots of people throw red flags at the tach on these trucks. It does seem odd cruising at 3,000rpms, but their designed to. Its not a 350 V8. Big difference. 3.0 is a good engine, and if you knew more about it you wouldnt complain about the high rpms. Just drive it. Believe it or not you get alot better mpgs's then any motor around that year thats cruising at 1800rpms @ 70mph. Especially in a 4,500lbs wind box.

I really wish my tires didnt have to spin so fast on the freeway.

And that was a joke, but seriously the high rpms are norm. Its part of the design, and these trucks outlast fords and chevs by 1 to 2 hundred thousand miles.
